Pre-trip Preparation

28 of our Riverlites will be embarking on a learning journey to immerse themselves in the rich culture of Japan. In order to prepare the Riverlites who will be exposed to a whole new set of culture and language, they have been training very hard since 11th April 2008. There are a total of 18 training sessions which will prepare the pupils for the programme.

We are fortunate to have Mr Asai Hironori (Parent Volunteer) to coach the pupils in basic conversational Japanese language. The pupils enjoyed themselves as they learned how to converse in simple Japanese.

Mr Sim Eng Hock, the facilitator of the Homestay programme has also been training the pupils on a dance routine which will be performed during the farewell ceremony on the last day of the programme.

This year, all 28 pupils will be equipped with a PDA each which has a Japanese eDictionary and all the notes from the Japanese lessons preloaded into the PDAs. The pupils will use the PDAs when they are in Japan. The pupils have also been taught on how to use the functions on the PDA and also to keep track of their expenses using Mobile Excel.

Stay tune to this blog as we provide updates on a daily basis. Do remember to send our 28 delegate members off at 9.30pm on the 31st May 2008 at Terminal 2, Row 10 as they will depart on SQ 656.
